Moriah Masonry & Landscaping installs stone veneer, patios, walls, and stone entries in Dennis, MA, working out of South Yarmouth just across Bass River, roughly three miles from Dennis Village. Ademir Reine is on-site for every estimate. Salt air, sandy soil, and Cape Cod freeze-thaw cycles punish veneer that was set without a proper substrate and drainage plane. We prepare the surface correctly before a single stone goes up. Rated 4.8 stars across 24 Google reviews. Every project starts with a free on-site estimate and carries a three-year workmanship warranty.

Dennis sits about three miles from our base and spans both shores, from Cape Cod Bay in the north to Nantucket Sound in the south. That range of exposures puts real pressure on hardscape: salt air, wet winters and the freeze-thaw cycle that Cape Cod soil delivers season after season. We build every project to handle what that environment actually does to stone and pavers over time.
Natural and manufactured stone veneer applied to foundations, columns, retaining walls and exterior facades. Every installation starts with the correct substrate and fastening system so the veneer holds through Cape Cod winters. View stone veneer installation
Paver and bluestone patio installation built over a properly excavated and compacted stone base with drainage. Pool patios and pool surrounds follow the same build standard on every job. View patio installation
Paver and bluestone walkways, outdoor steps and cobblestone edging for Dennis properties. Every entry receives the same excavation and base treatment as a full patio. Explore entry work
We build for year ten, not just for day one.
One crew for the hard surfaces and the green around them, so the patio, the planting beds and the upkeep are not three different companies blaming each other.

Seat walls, garden walls and structural walls, with the drainage and reinforcement the height calls for.
Retaining Walls
Settlement, open joints and cracked work repointed, reset or rebuilt after we see what the base is doing.
Masonry Repair
Paver and bluestone patios, pool surrounds and driveways over a compacted base that drains.
Patios & Paving
Natural and manufactured veneer on foundations, chimneys, columns and outdoor kitchens.
Stone Veneer
Granite and bluestone steps, landings and entries set on footings that hold through frost heave.
Steps & Stone Entries
Brick and block structures, piers, steps and foundations, laid and pointed for freeze and thaw.
Brick & Block Work
Planting beds, grading, edging and stone work planned together rather than bolted on afterwards.
Landscaping

Leaf and debris clearing, beds cut back to a clean edge, haul-away the same day.
Spring & Fall Cleanups
Site assessment, layout, drainage routing and material selection settled on paper before anything is dug.

These are typical installed ranges for Dennis and the surrounding Cape Cod towns in 2026. Where a project lands inside a range depends on the conditions we find on site, which is why every number below is followed by the things that actually move it.
| Work | Typical range in Dennis (2026) | What moves the price |
|---|---|---|
| Stone veneer installation | $18 to $45 per sq ft | Veneer type, whether the substrate needs prep or rebuild, historic district review requirements, and wall area. |
| Paver patio | $15 to $35 per sq ft | Patio size, paver line, base depth over sandy Cape soil, and access for machinery. |
| Walkway and stone entry | $12 to $28 per sq ft | Length, material, number of curves and steps, and how much grading the run needs. |
| Retaining wall | $15 to $50 per sq ft | Wall height, whether geogrid reinforcement is required, drainage, and excavation depth. |
| Outdoor steps | $150 to $900 per step | Poured concrete at the low end, natural granite at the high end, plus railing and landing work. |
| Concrete masonry | $9 to $18 per sq ft | Slab thickness, reinforcement, finish, and whether existing material has to come out first. |
Ranges are a starting point for planning, not a quote. Sandy soil, salt-air exposure from both the bay and sound shores, and Old King's Highway Historic District requirements on the Route 6A corridor can all affect where a project lands. We price the actual project after walking the property.
Wall height, proximity to Bass River and the ponds and shores of Dennis all factor into whether the Town of Dennis requires a permit and whether work near wetlands needs additional review. We check the address at the estimate stage so you have that answer before anything is scheduled.
Natural fieldstone and cut stone for walls that read as part of the landscape. Segmental block where the grade change is larger and the structure has to hold it through freeze-thaw cycles. Timber and railroad tie walls generally come to us for replacement rather than repair, because water finds wood and the material has a finite service life.
Crushed stone behind the wall, a base excavated and compacted below frost, and a drain that moves water away from the structure. Taller walls and walls holding a slope need geogrid set into the backfill so the wall and the soil behind it behave as one mass. Skipping that step is why walls lean over time.
We flag at the quoting stage whether your Dennis address sits within the Old King's Highway Regional Historic District corridor along Route 6A, so there are no surprises once work is on the schedule. We work within that review process and know what the committee needs to see.
Dennis sits about three miles from our base, and the soils and shoreline exposure here make base preparation the deciding factor in how long any masonry installation lasts. Sandy ground shifts, frost pushes, and a patio or wall set without proper excavation and compaction shows the problem within a season or two. Getting the base right the first time is what separates work that holds from work that needs to be redone.
Walls that hold grade, define a planting bed or frame a lawn need drainage built behind them as much as they need the right stone in front. We install dry-stack and mortared walls in natural stone and manufactured block. Full detail on retaining wall installation.
A patio that settles unevenly almost always traces back to a base that was not excavated, compacted and crowned to drain. We dig to a depth that accounts for Cape Cod frost, compact in lifts, and set the finished surface to shed water away from the structure. See patio installation.
Steps that rock or lift are a safety issue before they are an aesthetic one. Entry steps and landings need a footing below frost and stone that is set level and pinned where movement is likely. Details are on our stone steps and entry work page.
The Town of Dennis is the authority for building permits and for work near wetlands, ponds and either shore. We confirm what is required before a project is scheduled, not after the crew arrives.
Permit requirements in Dennis depend on the scope of the work, where the project sits on the lot, and which overlay districts apply to the property. The Town of Dennis is the authority for building permits, and masonry work including stone veneer, retaining walls, patios and stone entries can fall under those requirements depending on scope and location.
The Town of Dennis handles building and zoning permits for construction, reconstruction, alteration, repair, and related work. Whether a stone veneer installation, patio, or retaining wall requires a permit depends on scope, setbacks, and the specific location on your lot.
If your property sits along the Route 6A corridor in the north of Dennis, a separate historic district committee review applies for exterior work visible from a public way. We cover what that means for stonework further down this page.
We address the permit question during the estimate and planning stage. If your project or your address triggers a review requirement, we flag it before work is scheduled so required approvals are in place and there are no surprises once construction begins.
Confirm the permit requirements and any district rules before the project is scheduled, not after the crew is on-site.
Route 6A crosses the northern part of Dennis, and that corridor falls within the Old King's Highway Regional Historic District. Any exterior work visible from a public way in that zone goes before the town's historic district committee before a building permit is issued. This applies to stone veneer, walls, walkways, entries and other masonry work that changes the appearance of a property from the street.
If your address sits along or near Route 6A in the northern villages of Dennis, your property is likely inside the Old King's Highway Regional Historic District. Exterior masonry work visible from a public way, including stone veneer siding, entry steps, retaining walls and patio work, may require committee review before the Town of Dennis issues a building permit. Properties in South Dennis, West Dennis and Dennis Port are generally outside this district and follow the standard town permitting path only.
The historic district committee operates independently from the Town of Dennis Building Department. When a project requires both approvals, the historic review comes first. We identify at the quoting stage whether your address falls inside the Route 6A corridor so both review paths are planned for from the start. We know what the committee needs and we work within that process.
We flag historic district requirements during your initial site visit so there are no scheduling surprises once work begins. The Town of Dennis is the authority for all building permits and for any work near wetlands, ponds or either shore, and we plan around those requirements accordingly.
From stone veneer installations to full landscape care, our customers value careful workmanship, reliable scheduling and a crew that takes pride in every property they touch.

Natural veneer is quarried stone cut thin. Manufactured veneer is a coloured concrete casting taken from moulds of real stone. Natural costs more, weighs more, and no two pieces repeat, so it reads as stone from any distance. Manufactured is lighter, cheaper, faster to set and comes in repeating shapes, which is visible up close on a long run and in how the colour weathers. Both work on Cape Cod when the wall behind them is right. We quote whichever suits the elevation and the budget, and we tell you which one you are looking at.
Not directly, no. Veneer needs a solid, clean substrate, a weather-resistant barrier, metal lath fixed into sound material, and a scratch coat for the stone to bond to. Straight onto bare block or onto a face that is already spalling, the veneer will come away with whatever it was stuck to. We open up and check what is behind the surface first, because a wall that is holding water or crumbling has to be repaired before anything is faced, and that is the part that decides whether it is still sound in ten winters.
It depends on what is being built and where it sits on the lot. The Town of Dennis is the authority for building permits and for anything in a wetland buffer, and the answer changes with the height of a wall, its position relative to a boundary, and how close the work is to water. We tell you at the site visit which filings your project needs and who issues them, so the schedule is built around the real answer rather than an assumption.
Often, yes. Dennis is one of the six towns in the Old King’s Highway Regional Historic District, which follows Route 6A. Exterior work in the district that is visible from a public way goes before the town’s historic district committee for a certificate of appropriateness before it starts, and that covers the materials and the look of veneer, a wall, a patio edge, a walkway or a set of steps facing the road. We walk the property with you first and say plainly whether what you want is inside the district and visible from the way.
Yes, and you should. Massachusetts requires residential contractors to carry a Home Improvement Contractor registration, and permitted structural work requires a Construction Supervisor License. Both numbers are searchable through state databases. A legitimate contractor lists them on the written contract before any work begins. We carry our registration numbers on every contract we issue in Dennis and across the service area. Contact us to Get a Quote.
We are based in South Yarmouth, about three miles from Dennis across Bass River. That short distance means crews reach Dennis Village, East Dennis, South Dennis, West Dennis and Dennis Port early in the morning, and materials arrive fresh rather than sitting on a trailer in the heat.
